Derek Kan has been employed at George Mason University since 2003 in a variety of roles, ranging from the deployment of emerging technologies, such as wireless networks on campus; being the first IT Project Manager in Information Technology Services; heading up the development of the Project Management Framework; and being an advocate of professional project management practices. Derek currently leads the Enterprise Strategic Governance team, overseeing the governance and project portfolio processes. Derek is a native of Hong Kong who loves to travel. He is also an accomplished photographer. Derek earned an MBA from Shenandoah University. He completed his MSc in Telecommunications at Imperial College London and has completed the PMP and ITIL Expert professional certifications.
